Spring Wish List

I’m starting a new quarterly series here where I’ll share a few products that I’ve been wanting to try. I really don’t like to impulse buy (it makes me feel terrible most of the time), so I always try to add something I want to a wish list and then revisit it at least a week later. This helps me to spend less money and to avoid buying things that I only want at the moment. This season, I have some things on my wish list that will be great for spring cleaning and warm weather! Here are some products that I have on my spring wish list this year!

My 2016 Spring Wish List

Stainless Steel Thermos Water BottleTarte Highlighting Palette Makeup HIghlightYoung Living Essential Oils USB Diffuser
Stainless Steel Water Bottle* // Highlighting Palette // USB Diffuser

I’ve had this water bottle for years and LOVE it, but the silicon grip on mine is torn and stretched out. The highlighting palette is new from Tarte. I have their showstopper palette and the highlighter in that is incredible, so I’ve been looking for another highlight from them and was so excited when they released this palette! The USB diffuser is perfect for taking in the car or bringing to work with you. I love to have things smell good, so this is great to do that on-the-go!

This camera is so sweet, and I love the tiny polaroids it takes. I love my k-cup coffee maker because it’s so convenient, but buying the pre-packed k-cups is so expensive! I’m wanting to try a reusable cup since it’s more environmentally friendly and it will save me some money! Wool dryer balls are on my spring wish list since they can make your laundry dry faster and eliminate the need to buy dryer sheets. That’s definitely a win-win!

This Week / Meal Plan

Starting this week, I’m going to be sharing a few photos from the past week along with my current meal plan. This way, I’ll get to do a quick recap of the week and hopefully make the meal plan posts a little more interesting!

blossoming-magnolia-tree

I’ve been loving this warm weather! There are quite a few magnolia trees in our little neighborhood, and they’ve all bloomed beautifully (I’m hoping the snow today hasn’t killed all the flowers). One of my favorite things to do when it’s warm is to take a quick walk around the neighborhood with Scott, and I’ve been loving how often we’ve been able to do that already this year.

Scott and I went on a fun date to Cheesecake Factory this week and we saw this beautiful sunset on the way home.

ritters-diner

Scott was away this Saturday at a Spikeball tournament, and I ended up getting to go out to brunch with my mom and sister. We went to one of our favorite diners (Ritter’s, which is a Greek diner and so good), and I had this awesome spinach and feta omelette.

We’re really looking forward to Easter this coming week! We have some great family time scheduled, Scott’s playing drums for the Easter services at our church, and it’s a nice and easy week of school for me. We’re planning on relaxing, and we’re looking forward to enjoying some Easter dinner(s) over the weekend.

Meal Plan / Week of 3-20-16

  • Monday: Chicken Alfredo
  • Tuesday: BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
  • Wednesday: Sausage, Peppers, and Pasta
  • Thursday: Frozen Pizza
  • Friday: Honey Sesame Chicken

Must-Have Essential Oils for Spring

Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. In Pennsylvania, winter can be pretty cold, so the beginning of spring is such a sweet time, when the sun comes back out and people start to get outside and the city comes alive. However, spring can bring with it lots of cleaning and seasonal discomfort. Today I’m sharing some of my must-have essential oils for spring, to help with these problems and more!

Must-Have Essential Oils for Spring

LavenderLemon, and Peppermint: These oils are great for those of you who suffer from seasonal discomfort during this time of year! Combine all three in a roller bottle and use daily to enjoy the this time of year with minimal irritation. Lavender is also great to diffuse at bedtime, peppermint is cooling and energizing, and lemon is great for cleaning. This trio is perfect for spring!

Citrus Fresh: I love the smell of this essential oil blend! It contains orange, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon and mandarin essential oils as well as a touch of spearmint, which makes it smell like spring! Try combining with peppermint or lavender in a diffuser, or add a drop of Citrus Fresh Vitality to your water for a refreshing twist!

Purification: This is one of the best oils out there for cleaning! We used it just a few days ago to help rid our apartment of that “wet-dog” smell after we had a leak. Mix it with baking soda for a natural carpet deodorizer. Diffuse it outside to enjoy a dinner on the porch annoyance-free (it contains Citronella oil). You can also try adding it to a cotton ball and placing in a shoe to remove any smell!

Thieves Household Cleaner: I can’t sing the praises of this product enough! It’s plant-based and non-toxic, so it’s great for all you moms out there. (It’s totally ok to give your kids a spray bottle and have them clean their own bathroom – no need to worry about fumes or dangerous cleaning agents!) It also can replace your entire cleaning closet. That’s right – this one little bottle contains super-concentrated soap that can be diluted a number of ways to make sink & tile scrub, furniture polish, all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, and more!

LavaDerm Cooling Mist: This is perfect for those days when you don’t think it’s sunny enough to wear sunscreen and then regret it later! It contains aloe vera leaf extract and lavender essential oil to soothe overexposed skin, so it’s great for those first few sunny days after a long winter!
