What I Wore / Feeling Cozy

After a really gorgeous beginning of the season, it’s finally starting to cool down. The cooler weather means it’s a little easier to dress like it’s autumn, which I’m happy about. During the cooler months, I always like to look nice, but I also want to feel like I’m wearing a blanket as much as possible! To stay warm and cozy, I try to stick to easy, soft, warm pieces that can be easily layered and are comfortable to wear.

Shirt / Scarf / Jeans / Moccasins

I recently purchased this shirt from Old Navy and love the pattern and fabric; it’s sort of like a really lightweight, soft flannel. These jeans from Forever21 not only cost less than $10, but they’re also stretchy and comfortable! I added a scarf for warmth (it’s super soft!) and some fleece-lined moccasins which are warm, look good, and feel like slippers.

Wear to Work – Autumn/Winter

As someone who officially has a full-time job, I’ve had to compile a work wardrobe. I try to keep my work wardrobe fairly simple and only buy pieces that will mix and match with what I currently have. My office is officially business casual, but tends to be a little more casual than business, so most of these recommendations will fit into that atmosphere. Today, I’m sharing a few must-have pieces to wear to work this autumn and winter!

Your Workwear Essentials for Autumn & Winter

Chunky Cardigan

I don’t know about you, but my office gets pretty cold when it’s cool outside! (It’s always either 68 or 83 degrees – never in between.) I’m always sure to have a thick sweater or wrap to keep me warm. I love any piece of clothing that is basically like wearing a blanket, so sweaters and wraps are a must for me!

Long Sleeved Dress

I love a good dress, but they can be difficult to wear in the winter (especially if your office is on the colder side). During the cooler months, it’s essential to have a nice long-sleeved dress made of thick fabric. I prefer autumn/winter dresses that are a bit shorter than knee length, because I think that looks better with tights (another winter must-have).

Loafers

I keep seeing photos of my favorite style bloggers wearing loafers, and it’s making me feel like I need to get a pair! A nice pair of pointed-toe loafers can make anything from jeans to workwear to dresses look chic and put-together. And good loafers are a really timeless addition to any wardrobe!

Polished Trousers

I recently bought a pair of the Harper Trousers from Old Navy, and I’ve been loving them for cooler weather! They keep me warm and look great with a long sleeved shirt or sweater tucked in. I’d recommend the brushed twill – it’s super soft and looks great!

Colored Coat

I bought a burgundy peacoat several years ago, and not only is it still in great shape, but I get tons of compliments on it! It’s warm, timeless, and totally office-appropriate. It looks great over my often all-neutral wardrobe, so I love to wear it to work in the winter! I’m totally crushing over coats in pink right now – check out some of my favorites below.

Ankle Boots

I love ankle boots, because they’re easy to dress up or down. Pair a black pair with tights and a dress, or wear a brown pair with dark jeans and a nice shirt (if jeans are permissible at your office). I’d recommend going with dressier pairs if you’re going to be wearing them to work.

I hope these suggestions help you build a better work wardrobe during the cooler months of the year! What is your top wear to work item for the fall and winter?

Floral Romper

I don’t have too many rompers in my closet, but every time I put this one from BooHoo on, I think about getting some more! I love that they are just as easy as throwing on a dress (who else is too lazy to match two pieces of clothing?), but they offer a lot more freedom of movement, which is perfect for summer adventures! I wore this outfit on a date night to the drive-in recently, so I added these cute red smoking flats from Old Navy to make the look a little more put-together but still comfortable.

This romper has a few details that make it just perfect: I love the floral pattern and ruffled sleeves, and – best of all – it has pockets! Any piece of clothing I own that has pockets will automatically get twice as much wear as a similar item without them because I think they are so convenient. The romper also has a super cute open back! I’ve recently been obsessed with Forever21s new line of strappy sports bras, so I thought one would pair really nicely with the romper. I love the strappy back because it looks intentional like a bralette but offers much more support!
