Our First Cruise and 5 Things We Learned

For those of you who don’t know, Scott and I went on our first cruise a few months ago! We had the best time, and I wanted to share a few highlights and some things we learned. I did a lot of research before our trip, so we went into the trip feeling pretty prepared!

We chose a cruise over a different type of vacation for a few reasons. First, we really wanted this vacation to be a total escape, so not having phone service or wifi was great! Second, we really liked the idea of seeing a few different places; we thought it would be a good introduction to the area, and we were able to decide which places we might be interested in visiting for a longer trip.

DIY Watercolor Card for Mother’s Day

I love making cards, and I always try to make my own cards rather than buy them. I think hand-making a card not only makes it feel more personalized and special, but it’s also a great way to save a bit of money! One of my go-to methods for making cards is with watercolor. I think that watercolor can be quite forgiving, as long as you know some of the basics. Today, I’m sharing how I made these pretty (and beginner-friendly) cards, including two easy ways to make watercolor flowers! A DIY watercolor card would be perfect for Mother’s Day.

Budget Bedroom Refresh – Planning and Inspiration

It can be really difficult to ever make an apartment feel finished, especially because it’s usually a temporary space. Apartments can also be difficult because you’re limited in what you can do to change the space. Since we’ll probably be living here for awhile, I’m on a mission to make our place feel like home. To accomplish this, I have a few things planned. First up is this budget bedroom refresh! Today’s post is going to be all about the planning, since the project will likely take some time. Let’s get started!

Here’s what our room looked like at the very beginning of this project. (We’ve done a bit since then, but it’s not quite done yet.) Nothing is wrong with the room, but it doesn’t quite look or feel like I want it to. We have lots of “horizontal space” in our room, which means that the headboard and dressers often have a lot of stuff on them and start to look cluttered. I’m going to focus on clearing that so the space looks a bit cleaner. The room also seems a bit plain; there aren’t really any accessories or decorations in the room. That’s one thing I’m hoping to change that will hopefully make a big difference!
