Spring Wish List

I’m starting a new quarterly series here where I’ll share a few products that I’ve been wanting to try. I really don’t like to impulse buy (it makes me feel terrible most of the time), so I always try to add something I want to a wish list and then revisit it at least a week later. This helps me to spend less money and to avoid buying things that I only want at the moment. This season, I have some things on my wish list that will be great for spring cleaning and warm weather! Here are some products that I have on my spring wish list this year!

I’ve had this water bottle for years and LOVE it, but the silicon grip on mine is torn and stretched out. The highlighting palette is new from Tarte. I have their showstopper palette and the highlighter in that is incredible, so I’ve been looking for another highlight from them and was so excited when they released this palette! The USB diffuser is perfect for taking in the car or bringing to work with you. I love to have things smell good, so this is great to do that on-the-go!

This camera is so sweet, and I love the tiny polaroids it takes. I love my k-cup coffee maker because it’s so convenient, but buying the pre-packed k-cups is so expensive! I’m wanting to try a reusable cup since it’s more environmentally friendly and it will save me some money! Wool dryer balls are on my spring wish list since they can make your laundry dry faster and eliminate the need to buy dryer sheets. That’s definitely a win-win!

DIY Bath Bombs for Galentine’s Day

I’m super excited to share this DIY with you all today. These bath bombs smell awesome, and it’s so fun to watch them fizz up in the bath! I made these in muffin tins with cupcake liners, so  they look super cute, and you don’t need to buy a bath bomb mold (unitaskers = not good). I made these for Galentine’s day this year, but they would also make a great gift for birthdays and Mother’s Day (or a nice gift for yourself). I also love that these DIY bath bombs are so easy and inexpensive to make – I can’t believe I didn’t make them sooner!

DIY Bath Bombs Gift

DIY Bath Bombs

(makes 12 medium “cupcakes” or 8 large ones)

  • 8 oz baking soda
  • 4 oz corn starch
  • 4 oz citric acid* (you can find this easiest on amazon)
  • 4 oz epsom salt
  • 2-3 tsp water
  • 10-20 drops essential oils
  • 2 tsp oil (I like jojoba oil* best, but coconut, olive, or sweet almond oil would also work!)

DIY Bath Bombs Essential Oils

Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir to remove any lumps. (Be careful because it can get pretty powdery and you don’t want to inhale anything!)

In a small jar, stir together the wet ingredients (water and oil). If you’re only making one scent, add the essential oils now, but if you want to make multiple scents, you can add them later!

Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring as you go. If the mixture starts getting really fizzy, add the liquids more slowly and stir more quickly. To check if you have enough liquid added, squeeze a little bit together in your hands (it should pack easily and stick together). Add a bit more water or oil if the mix doesn’t pack well.

If you want to make multiple scents, divide the mix into separate bowls and add your oils to each one! Some of my favorite oils to add are lavender + frankincense, lemon + tangerine, and stress away. Pack the mix into a standard size muffin tin with cupcake liners. Make sure to really pack it in there tightly! If you have a second muffin tin, you can also press it into the first one (like you’re stacking it up) to pack the mix in even more.

Let your bath bombs dry for around a day before (carefully!) removing them from the muffin tin. Store in a dry place until you’re ready to use them.

I wrapped these up in some fun tissue paper, packaged a few in each bag, and gave them to all my favorite gals!

Gift Wrapping Ideas with Kraft Paper

Christmas is coming up quick, and I know there are plenty of you out there that haven’t even begun to wrap your presents. I remember that almost every year when I was young, my mom would stay up until 2 or 3am (or later) to finish wrapping the gifts (my dad would always make sure we didn’t wake her up too early on Christmas morning!), but once I got older, I loved to help her wrap presents. There’s something about making a nice, neat, perfect-looking gift that is almost as satisfying as unwrapping one. Scott and I don’t have a lot of space or storage in our apartment this year, and we also don’t have a lot of money to spend on all kinds of wrapping paper and bits – enter kraft paper. We bought a huge roll on Amazon and have been using it for EVERYTHING. I love how cohesive it makes the presents look, but I do like to be a little creative with the packages. I’ve come up with some ways to dress up plain old kraft packages so they’ll look special under the tree!
